Research & Development 2026
Experimental projectPrometheus.
An exploration of visual programming: assembling operations as nodes, connecting them into a graph and experimenting with how that graph runs.
Prometheus editor — node graph prototype built with C++ and Qt 6.
01 / The idea
Building logic as a graph.
Prometheus began in early 2026 as a personal research project around node-based software. Instead of expressing a sequence of operations only in code, the experiment represents operations as nodes with pins and links between them.
The goal is to understand the practical questions behind such an editor: how to represent a graph, display and connect its elements, organize a library of nodes, and execute the resulting structure.
02 / Exploration
From graph model to desktop interface.
The codebase separates a graph core from a Qt desktop interface. The core defines nodes, pins, links, registration and graph execution. The interface contains a scene, a view, visual items for graph elements, and a node palette.
The experiment includes node implementations for numeric operations, strings, branching and comparison, alongside HTTP and socket-related nodes. These are areas of exploration within the prototype, rather than a claim of a finished automation product.
Graph structure
Nodes, pins and links form the underlying representation.
Visual editor
Qt widgets display graph elements and provide a palette of nodes.
Graph execution
A separate executor explores how connected operations are evaluated.
03 / Engineering
A custom editor built on Qt.
Prometheus is written in C++17 and built with CMake. Qt 6 provides the desktop windowing and graphics foundation; the graph model, execution layer and editor items are implemented within the project. The current application targets Windows.
Keeping the core separate from the interface makes the experiment easier to reason about: graph behavior can be developed independently of how nodes and connections look on screen.
04 / Current state
An ongoing technical exploration.
Prometheus is an R&D prototype. Its value lies in exploring editor interaction, graph architecture and execution models, rather than presenting a finished commercial tool.
